The $50 Project arose from the belief that disabled and chronically ill people deserve to experience frivolous joy like anyone else. The project provides funds in $50 increments to disabled and chronically ill people to do whatever they want. Many may choose to put the money toward emergencies or expenses. Others may choose to put it toward treats or experiences. We do not keep track of this in the same way that able-bodied people are not required to account for how they spend their money.
